COVID-19 Statement

In line with the Government roadmap, we will be opening our doors to guests once again from Monday 17th May.

We have worked hard to ensure that we have done, and are doing, everything possible to ensure our cafe & restaurant remains COVID-19 Secure, to minimise risk, and provide a welcoming environment for our customers.

We are pleased to confirm we have received the “We’re Good to Go” industry standard mark and the “Safe Travels” award. The Safe Travels award has been designed and awarded by the World Travel & Tourism Council. The “We’re Good to Go” industry standard has been designed by Visit England in partnership with the national tourist organisations Tourism Northern Ireland, Visit Scotland and Visit Wales to provide a ‘ring of confidence’ for all sectors of the tourism industry, as well as reassurance to visitors that businesses have clear processes in place and are following industry and Government COVID-19 guidance on cleanliness and social distancing.

Below we’ve explained what you can expect from a visit to Hetty & Betty, and how you can help us to remain COVID-19 Secure.


We will be accepting both bookings AND walk-in guests. Walk-in guests will be seated on a first come, first served basis.

We will be operating a queuing system outside our Baxtergate entrance for walk-ins and we ask that you queue as instructed.

One family or “bubble” will be permitted per table. Your table and chairs will be sanitised before you are seated.

ALL guests will be asked to give their contact details in order to comply with the Government’s NHS test and trace system. Your details will be held for 21 days, and will ONLY be given in line with the official guidelines to the relevant department, should they be asked for. They will not be given to any other third party. This is now voluntary. 

You will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided before being seated.

ALL guests will be seated by their host, (other than those purchasing takeaway items or collecting afternoon teas), and service will all be TABLE SERVICE. Due to our fortunate size, we are able to comfortably seat tables at the required distance.

Your host will explain the measures regarding your food and drinks service to you.

We ask that payment is made through contactless card payment wherever possible.

You will be asked to leave via our entrance on New Quay Road (the Harbour side) so that we can operate a one-way system.

🐶 We remain as dog friendly as ever.

🚫 Please DO NOT VISIT us if you have any of the following symptoms:
1. A new continuous cough
2. A fever
3. A change to taste or smell.

These measures are designed to protect you and our staff, and we thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
